CTE Program Assessment/Audit

• Already have a program established? Great! Let us help you ensure that it and your staff are completely up to date. We can answer questions such as:

  • Do you have the latest or correct equipment?

  • Are your teachers certified in the right areas?

  • How is this program impacting your local community?

We can answer these questions and much more

• • A full audit can consist of checking if

  • All promoted programs of study align with state and/or regional industry and labor market data.

  • Programs of study incorporate experiential learning and capstone experiences valued by industry

  • Secondary programs of study vertically align with postsecondary programs.

  • Courses are sequential and progressive in a given program of study.

  • Secondary programs of study incorporate courses and exams eligible for postsecondary credit or hours where appropriate. These can also be certifications approved by SCDE for ready-to-work.

  • Course standards are robust and accurately represent the academic, technical, and employability skills learners must master.

  • Educators receive ongoing, progressive training and professional development to ensure their instruction is reflective of course standards and current industry work environments.

  • Federal, state, and local funding are utilized to leverage and drive programmatic changes leading to the implementation of vertically aligned education-to-career learning pathways.

CTE Program Establishment and Growth

Looking to start your CTE program? Or maybe you would just like to expand. We can assist in setting up your brand new CTE program.

• This can include

  • A base package can include a 1-year program of study, a list of materials required, as well as certifications required by teachers. This also can include a full needs assessment of your student body, and research on needs to be met/growing fields within your community.

• Other examples of what we can do or add-ons are

  • writing syllabus with suggested dates

  • writing standardized rubrics that can be used across subjects such as projects, presentations, essays, etc.

  • suggesting shadowing opportunities, outside programs, etc.

  • recommend and/or organize Student Organizations (CTSOs) which provide students opportunities for leadership development, competitive events, professional development, and community service

  • write a proposal, lesson plan, or add to a syllabus embedded literacy where each course in the CTE program integrates reading and writing strategies into all aspects of learning in the CTE classroom

  • Write a proposal, lesson plan, or add to a syllabus embedded numeracy where mathematics and numeracy strategies are incorporated into CTE assignments and all aspects of learning in the CTE classroom, with frequent assignments that require students to apply mathematics skills to authentic problems found in the CTE field of study

  • offer professional development in person or virtually on the following topics but we can do one on most any topic or topics: Classroom management, Pedagogy/Andragogy, Classroom assessment, Project‐based learning, CTE integration with core classes, Problem‐based learning, Soft Skills, preparing students for certifications, Conflict Resolution, etc.

  • suggest and enroll teachers in proper Professional Organizations making yearly recommendations for teacher and guidance PD

  • write yearly guidance programs providing all students with opportunities to explore career and educational options, including preparing a plan of study such as the Next Step Plan, advisement, IGP planning, etc

  • write a parent involvement plan with CTE classes

  • design dual enrollment opportunities with colleges for CTE credit along with writing the application due in January for each program or class along with innovative applications for classes that are catered to your students like drone classes, etc

  • Marketing, Public Relations, and Community Outreach‐ School/institution and CTE leaders market the program to students and community stakeholders to ensure everyone involved is familiar with the program & its curriculum and understands how it links to further study and workforce needs by hosting an open house, designing marketing strategies, offering marketing strategies in social media, etc

  • write a Retention and Completion report showing retention measures the staying power of a program in attracting and keeping students. Completion indicates the percentage of students successfully completing all requirements prescribed for the program

  • order and/or implementing Industry Credentialing and Technical Assessments – The CTE programs lead to industry certification that has value in the workplace. A certification exam can serve as an end‐of‐program and /or end‐of‐course exam and provides students the opportunity to earn an industry credential

  • suggest and/or order, sticker, inventory, organize, and deliver equipment and supplies (Depends on mileage) – Equipment and supplies support the instructional plan at a level to assure quality education. Equipment is representative of the grade and type used by businesses and industries to meet or exceed all appropriate safety standards. Equipment is inventoried and records are updated regularly. Procedures are established for the replacement and/or repair of malfunctioning equipment and tools. (This can also include grant writing for equipment.)

  • train teachers in diversity, equity, and inclusion along with writing a plan for special populations including individuals with disabilities, economically disadvantaged individuals including foster children, individuals preparing for nontraditional training and employment, single parents including pregnant women, displaced homemakers, and individuals with limited English proficiency

  • leads on Work-Based Learning options, entering information into Power School, auditing PS to check for maximum college and career readiness for report cards and vocational funds

  • leads on special summer programs

Administration Preparation

• We can assist administrators and counselors with information about

  • Perkins funding

  • Recruiting students for new programs

  • Retaining students already in programs

  • How to hire, support, and maintain CTE teachers

  • Knowledge of various teacher exams and certifications required

  • Knowledge of possible student state and national certification exams

      • run advisory board - could be virtual or in-person*

• We can assist in any aspect of a career specialist such as but not limited to

  • Assist schools in promoting the goals of quality career development for K-12 students.

  • Coordinate and present professional development workshops in career development and guidance for teachers, school counselors, and work-based constituents.

  • Assist school counselors and students in identifying and accessing career information and resource materials.

  • Provide educators, parents, and students with information on career and technology education programs offered in the school/district.

  • Support students in the exploration of career clusters and the selection of an area of academic focus within a cluster of study.

  • Coordinate with school counselors and administration on career events, career classes, and career programming.

  • Coordinate community resources and citizens representing diverse occupations.

  • Assist counselors with dual enrollment processes.

  • Assist with work-based learning programs to include job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships through fostering of partnerships with business and industry.

  • Utilize and promote career planning software applications.

  • Target career exploration tools that support students within the scope of their interest and program placement in support of the individual graduation plan (IGP) process.

  • Assist students & parents to align the benefits of credentialing, soft skills, and course sequencing to the students’ individual graduation plans.

  • Certification ordering and testing.

  • Can add all testing, WBL, shadowing, etc in Power School

  • Host a scholarship/FAFSA night, college application day, and College/Career Day.
